The Dancing Shoes
A pair of shoes teaches a child that moving your body makes mornings fun.
Every morning, Arjun's shoes sat by the door. They were red with white laces. And they loved to dance!
"Put us on! Put us on!" the shoes seemed to say.
Arjun was sleepy. He yawned a big yawn. "I don't want to get up."
But then he looked at his shoes. Were they... wiggling?
Arjun put on one shoe. His foot started tapping. Tap, tap, tap!
He put on the other shoe. Both feet started moving. Tap, tap, stomp, stomp!
"Whoa!" said Arjun. He was dancing! In the hallway! Before breakfast!
He danced to the kitchen. Shimmy, shimmy, shake! Papa laughed. "Look at those dancing feet!"
He danced to the bathroom. Brush, brush, wiggle, wiggle! He brushed his teeth while dancing!
He danced to the breakfast table. Slide, slide, sit! He was wide awake now!
"How are you so happy this morning?" asked Mama.
Arjun looked at his red shoes and smiled. "My shoes taught me a secret. If you move your body, your body wakes up your smile!"
And from that day on, every morning started with a little dance. Even Papa joined in.
