Following the Butterfly

A boy follows a butterfly on his morning walk and discovers amazing things.

On the way to school, Omar always walked the same path. Past the red house, past the bakery, past the big tree, through the school gate. Same, same, same.

But one morning, a butterfly flew right in front of his face. It was orange and black with tiny white spots.

"Wow," breathed Omar. The butterfly fluttered to the left โ€” down a path Omar had never taken.

"Ammi, can we follow it?" he asked.

"Let's try," said Ammi, smiling.

They followed the butterfly down the new path. It led them past a little pond Omar had never seen. Ducks were swimming in it! Real ducks!

"I didn't know there were ducks here!" said Omar.

The butterfly kept going. It led them to a garden with flowers of every color. Red, yellow, pink, purple. An old woman was watering them.

"Good morning!" she said. "I'm Mrs. Chen. Do you like my garden?"

"I love it!" said Omar. "A butterfly showed us the way."

Mrs. Chen laughed. "Butterflies always know the prettiest paths."

They still made it to school on time. But now Omar knew something important. Sometimes the best discoveries happen when you follow something unexpected down a path you've never taken before.

"Tomorrow," said Omar, "I want to find a new path again."

And he did.
