The Breakfast Artist
A creative girl turns her breakfast into art and inspires the whole family.
Naya liked to make art. She painted on paper. She drew on sidewalks. She made shapes with playdough. But one morning, she ran out of ideas.
"I've drawn everything!" she told Baba.
"Have you tried making art with breakfast?" asked Baba.
"Breakfast? You can't make art with breakfast!"
"Watch." Baba took a banana and cut it into circles. He arranged them on the plate in a curve. Then he added two blueberry eyes and a strawberry nose. "Banana Bear!" he said.
Naya's eyes went wide. "I want to try!"
She took her toast and tore it into the shape of a star. She used jam to make stripes. She arranged grapes around it like planets. "Toast Galaxy!" she announced.
Baby brother Kofi banged his spoon. He wanted to play too! Naya helped him arrange his cereal into a smiley face.
"Look, Mama! Kofi made a Cheerio Smile!" said Naya.
Mama looked at all three plates. "This is the most beautiful breakfast table ever," she said.
They ate their art. It was delicious AND beautiful.
Now every morning, Naya makes Breakfast Art. Monday was Paratha Mountain. Tuesday was Fruit Rainbow. Wednesday was Egg Cloud.
"Art isn't just on paper," Naya tells everyone. "Art is everywhere. Even in your breakfast bowl."
