The Climbing Squirrel

A squirrel climbs slowly and patiently to the top of a very tall tree.

In the big forest, there was a squirrel named Nutty. Nutty loved acorns. And the best acorns were at the very top of the tallest tree.

"I want to climb up there!" said Nutty, looking up. The tree was very, very tall. So tall that the top touched the clouds!

Nutty started climbing. One branch at a time. It did not rush. Step. Step. Step.

"Are you okay, Nutty?" called a bird from above.

"I am fine!" said Nutty. "I am going slowly."

Nutty climbed past the low branches. Past the middle branches. Past where the woodpecker lived. "Hello, Nutty! You are doing great!"

Higher and higher. The wind blew gently. Nutty held on tight but kept going. Step. Step. Step.

Finally, Nutty reached the very top! The view was amazing! Nutty could see the whole forest, the river, and the mountains far away.

And there โ€” the most beautiful, golden acorn!

"I did it!" said Nutty, holding the acorn happily. "Slow and steady got me here."

Nutty climbed back down and shared the acorn with friends. That made it even sweeter.

Goodnight, patient Nutty. Goodnight.
