The Duck Who Tried Again
A little duck keeps trying to climb up a slippery bank and never gives up.
A little duck was swimming in the pond. The water was cool and nice. But the duck wanted to get out. It wanted to walk on the soft grass.
The duck tried to climb up the bank. Slip! It slid right back into the water. Splash!
"Oh no," said the duck. But the duck did not give up.
It tried again. Slip! Back into the water. Splash!
"I can do this," said the duck. It took a deep breath.
This time, the duck tried a different spot. A spot with some rocks. Step by step. One little webbed foot at a time. Slowly. Carefully.
One step. Two steps. Three steps.
The duck reached the top! It was standing on the soft, green grass!
"I did it!" quacked the duck happily. It flapped its wings and did a little dance.
A frog nearby clapped its tiny hands. "Well done, duck! You never gave up!"
The duck smiled proudly. Falling down is okay. What matters is getting back up.
Goodnight, brave little duck. Goodnight.
