The Invention Morning
A boy solves his family's morning problem with creative thinking.
Kian's family had a problem. Every morning, everyone needed the bathroom at the same time. Dad needed to shave. Mom needed the mirror. Kian needed to brush his teeth. Baby sister needed her bath. It was a mess of bumping elbows and toothpaste on shirts.
"There must be a better way," said Kian one morning, wiping Dad's shaving cream off his elbow.
That evening, Kian sat at his desk and drew a plan. He called it "The Morning Traffic System." He drew a chart with four time slots and four people. Each person got the bathroom for exactly ten minutes, in a specific order.
He colored it with markers, laminated it with tape (well, tried to โ it was sticky), and hung it on the bathroom door.
"What's this?" asked Mom the next morning.
"My invention," said Kian proudly. "You go first because you leave earliest. Then Dad. Then me. Then baby Zara gets her bath."
They tried it. Mom got the bathroom to herself for ten whole minutes. "This is amazing!" she said. Dad went next. No elbow bumping! Then Kian. Then baby Zara splashed happily.
They were ready fifteen minutes earlier than usual.
"Kian," said Dad, "you solved a problem that's been bothering us for months."
"I just thought about it like a puzzle," said Kian. "Every puzzle has a solution. You just have to think about it from the right angle."
The Morning Traffic System stayed on that bathroom door for three years. It got updated when Zara grew up and started brushing her own teeth. Kian added her slot with a purple marker.
Mom called it his first real invention. Kian called it common sense. But whatever it was, it made mornings peaceful.
